Why not give Scratch Jnr a go!

I've been working with the Y0-Y1's this term with Scratch Junior. They can be a challenging bunch but we have had a lot of fun using Scratch Junior. We started small using the ideas on the Scratch Jnr website such as; Drive Across the City, Run Race and Spooky Forest. See website http://www.scratchjr.org/teach.html.

We have now started to build our own characters and retell stories and nursery rhymes. Today we did Scratch Junior as Old MacDonald. I have been using a few senior (Y6) students to help out when junior student numbers get high. They have been excellent teachers. They have had their own groups of four students each paired up with one iPad between two.

I will share some of the projects next time I post. For now I have found a useful tutorial for any teachers that are keen. It gives you a great overview. Also worth noting Scratch Junior is now available on android devices via google play store.
