Musicnet Summary to 28th Feb 2015

Kia ora tātou,

Welcome to the end of the week. For most of you, it’s the halfway mark of the term!

I’ve just had two great days with the Regional Arts Partnerships Workshops in Wellington and Nelson. If you live in or near Napier, Rotorua, Hamilton, Auckland, Whangarei, Christchurch and Dunedin I’d encourage you to get along to the workshops being held over the next few weeks. The focus is unpacking the thinking skills required in the Developing Ideas and Understanding Contexts strands of our Curriculum. Please register so that resources can be printed and you don’t get turned away if they are full.

Summary as at 28th Feb

·         Music standards that count towards literacy are listed here.  I am aware of some schools who have had this information added to their course overviews in their Student Management System such as KAMAR.

·         Level 2 non-classical piano repertoire was shared. Thanks for those of you who contributed.

·         How to submit moderation digitally was outlined in this discussion. Official NZQA requirements are here.

·         An audio CD of Instrument Bingo was requested. Using Dropbox for large files such as audio and video an efficient way of sharing. Watch this video to see how.

·         The Provost and Dean of Juilliard will be speaking on Friday the 6th of March in AKL. And possibly elsewhere. Follow this thread for details.

·         The Institute of Registered Music Teachers is offering some PD on Sunday the 5th of March in Christchurch.

·         The week finished with a discussion on the Aural Externals for Level 2 and their value.
