Informative CEM webinar with Stephen Heppell, Derek Wenmoth, Mark Osborne and Janelle Riki.

Janelle’s (@jayeriki) kōrero in this webinar focused on Māori learners and the ideas of culturally connected and culturally located. Janelle reinforced the importance of relationships, ako and self-determination. Other points raised included:

  • how are kura already have spaces to learn in and about their culture
  • Modern Learning Practice is it all about best practice, drawing on knowledge and possibilities
  • spaces to support language learning in a new environment
  • learning can never be 9 - 3 in a 24 hour connected world
  • tuakana - teina
Well worth a watch.
