Inquiry Celebration Evening - Family/Whanau participating in learning experiences and celebrating student learning successes

  • Public
By Kate Dare

Yesterday, St James’ held a curriculum sharing evening where children invited their parents to come along and share their inquiry learning. Children take their parents on a ‘tour’ sharing with them their term’s learning. This includes sharing the e-learning that has been taken place. Children are mainly independent when sharing and this shows the level of deep understanding they have gained about their learning.

This evening was just part of the ongoing commitment at St James’ to actively involve family and whanau in children’s learning and in celebrating students learning successes. Already this year we have held assemblies, student led celebrations, a junior dance celebration and a basic facts afternoon. These ‘special events’ are complemented by the class blog’s where learning is celebrated, and takes place, on a day-to-day basis.
