E-Learning Sharing


At the beginning of staff meetings teachers have been sharing how they have been integrating E-learning. Today the Junior Team shared; fotobabble has been used to support oral language learning (http://greateightsstjames.blogspot.com/2011/05/in-room-8-we-bring-surprise-object-in.html), voicethread has been used to share writing learning and next steps (http://super7stjames.blogspot.com/2011/05/keiryans-writing-about-autumn.html), one class has used the video function on a digital camera to reflect on their reading learning (http://super7stjames.blogspot.com/2011/05/keiryans-writing-about-autumn.html), another class has used animoto to share P.E. learning and they have used the thinking hats to reflect on this (http://teamworktens.blogspot.com/2011/06/pe-with-mr-mckinnon.html).

The sharing that goes on as a staff around our e-learning is an important part of our professional development. Teachers often borrow others’ ideas and adapt them for their own purposes, and make connections with their own practice. During our sessions teachers have also been gaining feedback and feed forward around their practice. This is helping us as a staff integrate e-learning in a purposeful way (not just as an add-on), and to improve the level of thinking demonstrated in blog posts.

    Fotobabble has been a fabulous tool and we have been using it at Terrace End too. Did your students attend the xtranormal session at the Feilding Cluster student led conference? It struck me as being another branch along the same lines as Fotobabble and Voice thread - similar use but a different focus again. Do you have plans to use this? I would like to try and integrate it into my Inquiry next term.
