Guinea Pig class

A Yr8 class at Tauranga Intermediate have been given 4 iPads for the year. Ready to go as of yesterday. I'm sure if there are issues/glitches these kids will find them. They have been synced to the teachers laptop who has the iTunes account. iTunes gift cards used to keep track of purchases. Started with Keynote and Pages and a few random free apps like a calculator, chalkboard etc. Going to try and use DropBox for kids work but haven't set up yet.

It will be interesting to hear how you get on. There are some comments at http://blog.core-ed.org/blog/2011/02/ios-devices-schools-and-the-app-store.html (in article and attached comments) about some of the issues that teachers face around the use of iOS based devices (ipod touches, ipads, etc.) and the fact they are at heart a consumer device designed to be owned and used by one person - but hey, teachers are creative people and where there is a will there is a way ;-)

I have written my name down for an iPad workshop at L@S to soak up some more information about iPad use.
