  • I believe connecting with parents is critical to a child’s learning. You can end up with unintended consequences that could eventually help us do our job better. It is worth the effort and investment.

We, despite the recent lack of funding and sponsorship have been providing ICT classes for parent for the past 10 years. It is popular and well attended.

In my school I found that parents who attend our schools computer classes on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays are intrinsically motivated. They are there because they want to be there. This is then seen by their children and it improves their attendance (during school times). I was recently sick and my son kept kissing my cheek. He told me that he wanted to get sick so that he can stay home. I am assuming that his school is not fun or it has lost value for him to feel this way. I loved going to school when I was kid. You could not keep me away even when I was sick

Education is highly valued by these students and parents. Parents in turn help us to keep the behaviour of their children in check. Good classroom behaviour = learning.
